Treasures from the
Marblehead Museum Collection
The exhibit, will feature a choice selection of 18th and 19th
century items – many from Boston’s North Shore.
Included in the exhibit are a brilliant 18th
c. English silver epergne with both rococo and neoclassical
decoration, an outstanding mahogany bombé chest of
drawers, and a writing desk made by Marblehead cabinet-maker
Nathan Bowen. Also on display will be early needlework samplers;
18th century English and Asian ceramics, and a Simon Willard
tall case clock.
“Many people are not aware of the quality
of the Marblehead collections. This exhibit will give visitors
the opportunity to appreciate the finest examples,”
says Pam Peterson, Director of the Marblehead Museum, “and
to understand the significance of these important pieces.”
